Primary and Early Years NQT whole day conference

This year’s conference will be held on Thursday, 19 May at The Queen’s Club Palliser Road, W14 9EQ.

The programme has been carefully planned to provide a relevant, varied, inspiring and enjoyable day.  The aim of the day is for NQTs to develop knowledge and understanding, acquire some creative approaches and ideas in a supportive environment to take back to their classes, have the opportunity to network and build links with fellow NQTs, and for them to feel valued, confident and re-energised.

 The programme includes a keynote workshop with Simon Cooper-Hind “Beyond the Standards – What really matters?” and a choice of afternoon workshops including Block Play (for Early Years), Children as Storytellers (from The Shakespeare Globe), Steiner Approach to Learning/ 5 minute lesson plans and Teaching Music for non-music specialists.

No additional charge for those signed up to the enhanced NQT programme (these NQTs will be given priority), otherwise, £100 per NQT for those on the basic programme which includes lunch and refreshments.



Music For All – Music As Mean Of Communication

The purpose of this course is to broaden the spectrum of teaching techniques and strategies used by music and classroom teachers and TA’s in SEN environments. It will cover looking at the inclusive ways of teaching, cross curricular impact and possibilities of using music as a tool for promoting wellbeing and communication.

This course is being run by Gabriel Kain, who is an SEN Music Teacher and Practitioner based at QE2 Jubilee School. He has 7 years’ experience teaching music to SEN students, covering a full spectrum of ages and abilities. His practice is supported by having completed a Trinity College Course in Early Years Music Education, and Nordoff-Robbins ‘Introduction To Music Therapy’ course. On a few occasions he presented and held Q&A’s at music conferences organised by the Tri-Borough Music Hub for Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea and Hammersmith & Fulham.

The workshop will be held at the Access and Inclusion Centre at the QEII Jubilee School W9 3LG on Monday 18th April, 9.30-12.30.
The cost of the course is £40 for all participants.
