Knowing your children: Observation, assessment and planning
This session will explore how observations of children inform our assessment and daily and weekly planning. We will look at ‘what makes a good observation’ and why taking teacher-led and child-led observations are an essential way of assessing children. We will examine the importance of the early years outcomes in planning effectively and how to adapt planning to meet the needs of the children.
Participants are asked to bring a daily/weekly plan in order to discuss and explore as a group what types of planning may work best. They will be able to look around and take observations in the Essendine EYFS setting.
Aims: For NQTs –
- To understand what a makes a good observation and what areas it may cover.
- To gain insight into other types of planning and identify what works best in different settings.
- To understand how observation, planning and assessment is linked.
This session will be held at Essendine Primary School
