The focus will be an introduction into recent relevant research on the importance of outdoor learning and how to apply this to the requirements of the new national curriculum which include an increase in geographical field work skills and working scientifically. The session will include a practical aspect where NQTs can experience a local studies exploration so that they understand the value of this experience to children and the rich opportunities provided for learning. NQTs will acquire skills, knowledge and confidence, through active learning, to participate in the shaping of their understanding of the local area.
