In this session, NQTs will have the opportunity to develop a shared understanding of the progress and attainment expectations in English across Key Stages 1 and 2.
Participants will also be given the opportunity to share and discuss the range and quality of assessment evidence in English and apply this to making reliable judgements of pupil progress and attainment against age related expectations (ARE).
- Can explain and give examples of what is meant by each statement in the relevant assessment framework (e.g. selecting verb forms for meaning and effect).
- Can describe how to design lessons and teaching to best enable pupils to achieve objectives (e.g. managing shifts between levels of formality).
- Can confidently and accurately assess pupils against the relevant framework to determine whether pupils are working towards ARE/meeting ARE/exceeding ARE for their year group.
- Can use understanding of End of Key stage requirements to inform practice in any year group.
