In these two sessions, Part 1 and Part 2, we will explore the teaching sequence for writing, moving pupils from reading into writing, and from modelled and shared to independent writing. We will discuss the importance of using good quality texts as a stimulus for writing as well as providing opportunities for speaking and listening and drama to enable pupils to share ideas and develop viewpoint. We will consider strategies to support pupils through the writing process – from planning and composition to editing and redrafting – both in fiction and non-fiction, and across the curriculum. NQTs will understand progression and how to move pupils on in their writing.
