In this session NQTs will explore a range of active reading strategies to improve and develop pupils’ reading comprehension with a focus on inference skills. NQTs will also consider ways of expanding pupils; vocabulary and ability to work out the meaning of words from context. NQTs will discuss the importance of ‘shared reading’ as a way of modelling the reading process to pupils. NQTs will have the opportunity to discuss ideas and explore resources for reading fiction, non-fiction and poetry, for use in shared, guided and independent reading.
