This session on special educational needs/disabilities (SEND) and inclusion will begin by looking at the two prevailing models of SEND and how these operate. Participants will be introduced to a framework for inclusion and how, on a practical level, a range of needs can be met in the ordinary classroom.
By the end of the session participants will have developed a way of thinking about SEND and how to make the curriculum accessible to all. Participants will be actively involved in devising strategies drawing upon the previous session on SEND and their own experiences in the classroom.
Dr Keith Tysoe will be leading this session.
These TeachMeet sessions are an opportunity for NQTs to meet and share ideas to improve their pedagogy and make learning more engaging. Each session will be based on a short 15-20 minutes themed presentation followed by discussion and sharing of practical ideas to use back in class. We want the Teach Meet experience to provide networking opportunities with other NQTs and to support their personal development throughout their induction year.
Please note: this session was postponed from the 11 December 2018
