This session focuses on how teachers can best introduce new content to pupils drawing upon Rosenshine’s principles of instruction and how to structure effective explanations.
We’ll explore how to break new learning into component parts, the importance of teaching threshold concepts / foundational knowledge and how to use modelling, scaffolding and guided practice as tools to facilitate children’s initial independent practice.
